Definitions: 'Functional' Words!
- Term (as it relates to a sequence)- the values in the range of a sequence
- Arithmetic sequence- a sequence made by adding the same value each time to get the next term
- Geometric sequence- a sequence where each term after the 1st is found by multiplying the previous term by a fixed non-zero number
- Function- an equation where all inputs have exactly one output
- Domain- all of the x values in a function; all of the inputs
- Range- all of the y values in a function; all of the outputs
- Recursive formula- a formula used to find a term using one or more of the previous terms
t(n)= tn-1 + 2
- Explicit formula- a formula used to find the value of a term directly, without having to know any of the previous terms
- Odd function- a function where f(-x) = -f(x)
- Even function- a function where f(x) = f(-x)
